Something Good to Something Great.

People Make the World Go Round.

People are what make life worth living. People you’ve known your whole life, people you’ve met once or twice, people you’ve only seen in your dreams. The inspiration and connection we have with one another completely makes each and every one of us who we are. I was fortunate enough to meet a person like this less than two years ago. We met in the most human way possible: creating. Random as all hell creating. This story is about a great creator, a great soul, and a great girl who sees just like I do: Savannah Rae Summers.

The First Meeting.

Sav and I met in the fall of 2023. She came to visit Shannon, a fellow friend and talented stylist. Shannon had wanted me to meet Sav and said that we would really get along. She was coming from California and is a musician. I hadn’t been hanging out much during this time in my life as I was really trying to get slug off the ground… but with those adjectives and the plan to shoot photos of a complete stranger, I took the night off of sluggin’ and the night on of savvin’ (wow, that’s horrible lol).

The night went as follows: I jumped in the backseat of Shannon’s car, Sav played her music, I freaked out, we got out the car, immediately put on ski masks Sav designed, and strolled around the city, stopping at every place we found inspiration. Inside a grocery store, on the subway, on top of a school bus. The city was ours and Brooklyn was our playground. Just from that night alone, I knew Sav was special. It was as if we were swimming in an endless ocean, floating through moments of serenity, surfing waves of wonderment. I hoped to see her again, but in this life, you may only get one meeting. I was grateful for the time we had spent. They dropped me off and I got back to slug.

Chelsea Links.

Fast forward several months later, Sav moved to of all places, Staten Island, New York. I didn’t even think I’d be in Staten Island, and now we were both here. Over the course of 2024, we had hung out when we could, but really started to hang in 2025. I was spending most of my days and nights in the city, and Sav joined. I invited Sav to my office at the time, the artist studio of Jessica Anne Schwartz (who will most definitely have a Slug Story in the future) for a movie screening of “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg”. The night turned out to be incredibly inspiring and perfect (the first live Slug commercial was presented that night as well). Knowing the vibes of the studio and preparing to return to making Slug Art, I invited Sav to come back to this studio safe space to film a Slug Story with her. The plan was for Sav, who is also an actress, to play the part of an painter in her studio; to reach back into her slug, take out a paint brush, and make her work. Although that was the intention of the day, it didn’t turn out that way.

The Talk & The Shoot.

When we arrived at the studio in Chelsea, Jessica’s partner John was there waiting for us. John is an incredible man, who I also hope gets to star in his own Slug Story one day. He was there to give us the key to the studio, and we found him playing the piano.

Which was only meant to be a quick drop off-pick up situation, ended up with me, John, and Sav speaking for a while. We spoke about creation, dreams, business, ideas, donkeys (lol). Sav sat down in a big comfy chair in the corner as John spoke about his life. The way John spoke about life and creation was so simple, so pure, so logical, yet so inspiring. He asked a lot of questions about Slug and from someone with that much wisdom, I admit I was a bit intimidated. I wanted to make sure I was on my shit. But being the tremendous guy he is, John asked me the right questions, listened to me closely, and provided helpful, insightful responses. He left us both feeling amazed.

For the next 30 minutes, maybe even an hour after our conversation, Sav and I sat there and broke down the conversation. What did he mean by this? How did he do that? Could we do that? How do we do this? In that moment, I felt very small … but not small as in little. Small in a way that made the world feel big, vast, and abundant. That the world was so grand and so full of opportunities, that we thought: Are we thinking big enough? When we looked at the clock, we realized we only had 30 minutes or so left to film. I grabbed my camera, recorded a couple of shots, took some iPhone photos and called it a day.

Remember.

That day would be the last time I saw Sav before she returned to the West Coast. Life is filled with moments. Moments with people that shape our lives forever. And that day, I was reminded of two things: 1) setting the intention for creating something good, may actually lead you to experiencing something great, and 2) people are what make life worth living, so keep the good ones around for as long as you can.

This Slug Story is dedicated to Savannah Rae Summers, the Summers family, and everyone who has made someone’s life forever changed.
