Live How You’re Meant to Live.
Fear is a funny thing. It is real. We can’t see it. We can’t smell it. We can’t taste it. We can’t put it on the table and break it. It’s all in our minds. Immaterial. Not alive. Yet it still holds us back. Fuck . Every time I attempt to overcome a fear, I realize how stupid I was for thinking it would hurt me. In actuality, it has helped me. This Slug Story is about getting over your fears and just living the life that you know you’re meant to live.
The Team of Three.
Derrick, Devin, and I are all lovers of film. Devin is one of the most talented actors I’ve ever met. His roles range from drug addicts to daydreamers and his commitment to the craft is incredibly admirable. Derrick is an amazing director and does one of the best jobs of staying grounded on set. His presence is strong and makes us all feel comfortable to explore our creativity… which in my opinion, is the important role of the director. After a couple of months in between our projects (we made “Detective Slug” which turned out awesome), we felt that it was time to make another video together .
Meyers, Spade, Sandler, Murphy, Williams.
I’ve always loved actors who play many types of characters. Like Mike Meyers, David Spade, Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams. They have such a way of making imaginary people feel familiar and the nuances of their work have always struck me as “classic”. Maybe it was being exposed to NYC Public School and traveling, but I’ve always found amazement in people’s different personalities, and I’ve always sought to represent them in my own way. But after a while of directing said personalities, I reflected and realized I wanted to play these characters, but was scared to put myself out there. I was fearful. But, it came to me that being in the films myself would be a more honest representation of the brand. I was afraid, but having these two guys with me, made things all so simple.

After hearing the idea for Dr. Slug, Derrick went on to story board and further refine the concept. Devin came through to bring a much needed support. And Adam came through the the office as our set. All in about 2 hours, we shot the dang thing.
